Stain Remover That Works!

This easy to make stain remover is great to have on hand for laundry day. It also works great on slipcovers and throw pillow covers.

We have a lot of white and light colored fabrics in our decor. Such as our slipcovered sofas, several chairs, and lots of throw pillows and curtains!

Then there are the two adorable puppies that love to run around outside and come in with wet or muddy paws.

Also, I can’t seem to eat a meal without dropping something on my shirt. I’ve often contemplated tucking a napkin under my chin like a bib, but I didn’t want to embarrass my family.

Ok, so I find plenty of other ways to embarrass them. But here’s my point. I need a good stain remover!

It’s only three ingredients so I can mix it up quickly.

We’ve used it on all kinds of stains and haven’t found anything that it doesn’t work on removing the stain. Heart eyes!

Ok, disclaimer. Rob  says it doesn’t get out “roofing tar”. Is this a problem for anyone?

Can I use other Dish soap besides Dawn?

I tried it with Seventh Generation dish soap and it worked well. However, I still prefer Dawn for tough stains.

What if the stain is still there after washing?

Some stains have taken two treatments. Pretreat, run it through the wash, pretreat a second time and wash a second time.

I’ve also used the Lemon Essential oil straight from the bottle on stubborn stains and it was phenomenal!

As always, do a small spot test in a seam or some where to be sure your fabric doesn’t “bleach” out and leave a white spot instead of a stain.

Can I make a larger batch of the stain remover?

Absolutely! It’s equal parts of the Peroxide and Dish soap. Scale this up or down as needed. The Lemon Oil can be scaled as well or save it to put directly on stubborn stains.

Lemon Essential Oil

I used to use an expensive brand of Essential oils because of the purity testing. So many of them have additives such as synthetic fragrances or chemical fillers.

However, it was pretty expensive to keep buying from this company. I wasn’t always able to get the oils I wanted due to the price.

About a year ago I found another company that also has 3rd party testing of their oils for purity. However, they’re half the price or even a third in some cases!

I’ve been using them ever since and have been so happy with the quality and price.
